Occasionally I’m going to post some simple, home-accessible natural remedies for your consideration. Here are four excellent remedies to enjoy and benefit by:

*Garlic is a very effective antibiotic. To use it, just thinly slice
and dice a clove of garlic into a spoon. Swallow the garlic (without chewing)
with a lot of water so you don't taste it. (It will not smell on your breath if
you don't chew it up!) Italian immigrants in early America were called "garlic
eaters". Their children were sent to school with a clove of garlic around their
necks. And they didn't get sick as often!

*Salt is a natural antiseptic. Use 1 tsp. to a cup of warm water,
stirring to dissolve. Gargle vigorously to cleanse the throat and heal a sore
throat.

*Vinegar is great for restoring a good ph to your body, so invaders
can't multiple. Just a couple of tablespoons in a glass of water is good
medicine. If you don't like drinking it, just use a lot on your salad!

*Cinnamon is great for preventing bacterial and viral attacks, and
giving the immune system a boost (as are other "hot" spices such as cayenne,
ginger, peppermint). Shake it generously into your oatmeal or on whole wheat
toast (with raw honey) and reap the benefits.

Stress is a big contributor to weight gain because it changes a number of functions of the body that will cause you to store fat instead of waste it. Your body creates fat storing enzymes to replace the fat burning enzymes and slows your metabolism to ensure a slower burn. It retains water, depletes muscle (your fat burning machine) and much more. All is in an effort to preserve your life. It means well, though it doesn’t seem like much of a favor. In reality, it’s a fantastic response by your body, but the fat that hangs over your belt and droops from your arms is not what really floats your boat…is it? No.

So, getting stress under control is everything! We teach you all about the 10 main “Negative Stressors” in the manual and help you see how you can put them into check. It becomes a game that you get really good at with a little time and the results are exciting.

A LITTLE KNOWN FACT

Most people don’t realize that their body goes through a stressful time when the seasons change. Winter is a natural storage season for the body. It neither builds itself or cleans out the waste well. There’s nothing a person can do about that, but they can pay attention to what they eat and how they exercise to help reduce the weight gain that can occur from going through Winter alone.

With Spring comes a cleansing season for the body. If you have paid attention through the Winter and eaten cleaner along with a reasonable, moderate exercise program, there won’t be a lot for the body to dump when Spring comes.

If you’ve noticed a shift in your body through the colder months, don’t worry. Spring will bring a renewed chance for metabolic increase and you’ll get things in shape with a little effort.

Living the EAT & Be Lean principles is not supposed to be a temporary fad. These principles govern good health and permanent leanness and always will! It’s easy to stop doing what you know is right when something in your life that may be depressing or difficult for you takes priority. Then when you start cheating a little here, a little there on a daily basis and stop exercising it begins to snowball without noticing the changes day-by-day.

After a couple of months, you wake up one morning and don’t feel as good as usual. Your energy levels seem to have dropped just a bit and you rationalize that it’s just a cold or virus or some sort of a temporary phase. You’re tired and want to lay down more. You notice that your pants are a little snug and you finally break down and step on the scales to find out you’ve gained 5 pounds. You realized that you have re-set your fat setpoint to a higher lever and you start bad-mouthing yourself. Then you give up eating high-energy choices just a little more. You’ve already stopped exercising so your body is declining on a daily basis now. 10 additional pounds later and you are discouraged, and starting to question the truth about the EAT & Be Lean principles.

STOP RIGHT THERE! Another diet isn’t the answer! Quick fixes to jump-start your return to the EAT & Be Lean principles will only mess up your body more. There are NO SHORTCUTS to health and leanness!!!! Don’t get sucked into the lies of dieting, calorie cutting, pill popping, Dr.’s shots and quick solutions to your growing concerns with weight.

Simply return to the 3-part Formula for Success and watch for the improvement in your energy level and positive outlook to return first. Remember, the health must come before the leanness. If the leanness comes first, you’re on a diet! Diet is a four-letter word for a reason! You SWEAR that they work, but are let down in the long run and it doubles the time it takes you to gain back your good health.

Jump-start your return to the true principles of EAT & Be Lean by re-writing your positive affirmations and changing up your exercise routine for a variety. You’ll immediately feel good about heading in the right direction again. Keep going! Every day, in every way you’ll get a little better. The little bits will add up to a whole lot of success if you keep adding them together and stay on track.

Everyone slips, now and then. Just remember how good you felt when you were living the principles the program taught, be kind to yourself and let the magic happen as it will.
